Report from Myanmar by Mr. Zar Ni. 14th September 2011
“Struggling with imported used Japanese cars!!”
Mr. Zar Ni sent us an email from Myanmar where he has been started importing used Japanese cars. However, he seems to have been struggled by civil wars fighting frequently near the border.
His email is below.
Dear Mr. Mizue,
Hope you are fine and well. It has been a while since I contacted to you.
I started used car business in the town of M near the Thai border.
I received first container with four vehicles in last August. It took a great time to unload the vehicles out of the container at border because the worker did it never done before.
I have attached some photos with this email.
It seems quite difficult and needs some adjustment with brokers and buyers who has lack of common sense of trading.
90 percent of population, they do not care for trustworthy of due date, payment and etc. It needs more time to find the right person who can be trusted doing business with.
The roads were often closed by fighting. I had to stay in the mountains with my people for almost four days.
I sold two cars in the town of M and will transport remaining two to Yangon. I intend to sell remaining two vehicles after maintain car inspection by government authority.
The profit will be between 30,000 and 70,000 JY without maintain car inspection and it will larger with it. However, only special person can be issued by the government for doing it.
I will send you attached a check list by model and photos with next email. I will appreciated it to see them at your leisure time.
